Tell the MN Public Utilities Commission: Stop the Line 3 Tar Sands Pipeline!

Your public comment will be delivered to the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission:

You have an important role in protecting us from the direct and indirect impacts of this project that will affect so many generations after us. It’s time to put a stop to the Line 3 tar sands pipeline once and for all.

In June 2019, the Minnesota Court of Appeals ruled that the Line 3 project's environmental review failed to address the potential impact of a spill in the Lake Superior watershed. In October, your commission sided with this ruling and found the final environmental impact statement (FEIS) to be inadequate. An oil spill in any part of this watershed is an unacceptable risk to our freshwater resources.

The tar sands in Line 3 would be some of the dirtiest oil in the world, and also the most difficult to clean when it spills. With climate impacts mounting and the latest reports on carbon emissions and climate impacts becoming increasingly grim, we can’t afford to build more fossil fuel disasters that would last for decades and wreck the climate.

Please do everything in your power to stop the Line 3 tar sands pipeline from being built and be a true champion for our climate, water, and treaty rights by rejecting this environmental impact statement.

Enbridge, a Canadian pipeline company, wants to build a new, Keystone XL-sized tar sands pipeline through the upper Midwest. Line 3 would cut through Minnesota's pristine lake country, the precious headwaters of the Mississippi River, and Indigenous treaty lands.

This dangerous project puts the climate, water, and communities at risk – so people all along the route are standing up against this project. And they need you to stand with them!

If we build enough public pressure against Line 3 and convince Minnesota’s Governor Tim Walz to stand up and be a real climate leader, then his administration will stop Line 3.

We don't need more fossil fuel pipelines that threaten water, climate, and Indigenous rights. We need bold climate leadership to #StopLine 3 and safeguard the planet now and for future generations.
